What is the MedX machine and how can it help me?
MedX is a spinal strengthening tool for your lumbar and cervical spine. When using the MedX for your low back or neck, the muscles that run on each side of the spine are strengthened to help support the spine. In the first treatment the patient will take a baseline strength test to help determine a starting point in the rehab process. The subsequent visits will be controlled exercise to strengthen the muscles around the spine. The protocol for gaining strength is 2 times/ week for 8-12 weeks with a re-test of strength every 4 weeks.
The MedX spinal strengthening system is used on a variety of injuries and diagnoses. Some of these are: arthritis, degenerative disc disease, bulging or herniated discs, spondylosis, chronic neck or back pain, and a variety of other problems. Though the MedX is a great strengthening tool, it is not always appropriate for each patient. We try to decide in the first couple visits if the MedX is right for each person and continue to evaluate that as the treatments go on.
The primary goal of our MedX programs are to improve range of motion and muscle strength, decrease pain, and return the patient to normal function.
